We all know that stress isn’t good for us. Yet we glamorize the daily grind and it seems like a constant competition for who works the hardest and puts in the most hours!
Why is stress bad?
Stress causes our bodies to increase levels of cortisol, a hormone that controls our fight or flight response. When these hormones are chronically elevated, it can lead to inflammation and a whole host of diseases including heart disease, depression, anxiety, GI issues, and even Alzheimer’s disease.
The human body was designed to experience stress just once or twice a year. However, in modern day life we’re experiencing stress 10 to 30 times each day due to workload, phone calls, emails, and so many other things!
Self care and de-stressing has never been more important. That’s why we created our stress management program!
The Nutrition Team Stress Management Program:
Each one on one stress management session is led by our Health Coach and certified yoga instructor, Michelle. You will begin each meeting with a mindfulness meditation practice that allows you to decompress and bring your attention inward to your breath. After that, Michelle will work with you to uncover hidden daily stressors and find ways that you can incorporate different stress relief activities into your routine.
